How the JEPQ projection works

The model begins with the investment and share price you enter. At each selected payment period, it adds recurring contributions, calculates the distribution from the current share count, applies the simplified tax assumption, and either reinvests the remaining cash or holds it separately.

Period distribution = shares x annual distribution per share / payments per year

Price and distribution per share then change at their own constant annual rates. This separation prevents the common error of adding an entered distribution yield to an options premium or treating income as extra total return.

Before relying on a JEPQ result

Verify the inputs

  • Current share price and recent distribution history
  • Distribution frequency and any special payments
  • Fund objective, holdings, fees, and risks

Stress-test the assumptions

  • Try a distribution cut or zero growth
  • Try a flat or negative price scenario
  • Compare reinvestment with cash distributions

Questions

JEPQ calculator FAQ

Does the JEPQ calculator contain the current JEPQ price or yield?

No. Enter current JEPQ price and distribution data from J.P. Morgan Asset Management or your brokerage. The starting values are generic examples only.

How often does JEPQ distribute income?

JPMorgan Nasdaq Equity Premium Income ETF has recently used a monthly schedule. Fund schedules can change, so verify the current schedule and distribution history on the official fund page.

Does the projection predict JEPQ returns?

No. It applies constant user-entered assumptions. Real prices and distributions vary, and losses are possible.

Should I enter SEC yield as the annual distribution per share?

No. SEC yield is a standardized percentage measure. For the cash-flow input, use a recent annual cash distribution per share total from an official fund source.
